Electric Scooter Handlebar Height Chart – Know The Exact Handlebars Height + Free Download!
If you cover a lot of miles / kilometers on your e-scooter every week, it is nice if you have good posture while driving.
The handlebar height of your scooter largely determines whether your back and arms adopt a natural position.
How do you determine the right handlebar height for your electric scooter? And how do you adjust the steering wheel yourself? I’ll explain it all to you.
At the bottom of this article, you can download a Metric version and an Imperial version in PDF format.
What is the average handlebar height of an e-step?
The average handlebar height of an adult electric scooter is 3′ 93” – 120 cm. This includes outliers of 3′ 57” | 109 cm (low) and 4′ 39” | 134 cm (high). An electric children’s scooter is on average 2′ 78” | 85 cm high.
Can you adjust the handlebars on every e-scooter?
About 20% of e-scooters have an adjustable handlebar. You can recognize this by looking at the ‘from-to’ handlebar height in the technical specifications.
Adjusting the handlebars is similar to adjusting a bicycle saddle. You unlock the handlebar bracket, adjust the handlebars to the correct height and fold the bracket back.
Is it a problem if the handlebars are too high/low?
Yes, handlebars that are too low can cause problems in two ways:
Less control: if you suddenly have to brake hard, you have a higher chance of falling over the handlebars when they are too low.
Physical load: by setting the handlebars too low, you unconsciously adopt the wrong posture, which can cause unnecessary stress on your muscles and joints.
How do you determine the ideal height?
The rule of thumb for the ideal height is that the handlebars should be 0.78” – 1.96” | 2-5 cm below your belly button. The angle between your lower and upper arm should be between 100° and 120°. This should not tire your arms.
