Take the following rules into account when using a shared scooter. Please note: if you violate the rules, you run the risk of receiving a (hefty) fine:
The minimum age is set at 16 years;
You do not need to have a driver’s license;
A helmet is compulsory up to the age of 18;
You are required to wear a reflective safety vest in the dark;
You are not allowed to ride an electric scooter with more than one person;
You must drive on the bike lane if it is available and otherwise on a road where the speed limit does not exceed 50 km/h;
In Rome, various companies offer shared scooters for rent. You can find the electric scooters on the street and activate them with the help of an app. This is done as follows:

Download the app Download the mobile app from one of the active providers in Rome.

Create an account Create an account and link a payment method. Most providers accept payments via credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
3. Find a shared E-scooter
Check in the app where the nearest scooter is located. You can also see the battery percentage of each scooter here.
4. Unlock the scooter
Unlock the scooter by scanning the QR code on the scooter’s handlebars with the app.
5. Ending the ride
After the ride, park the e-scooter in the designated zone. End the ride via the app and you will receive an overview of the costs incurred.
