Our Rating

Segway Ninebot E10 Review

The Segway E10 is an awesome electric scooter for kids that are 8 years old to learn how to ride on an electric scooter.

This sturdy electric scooter is suitable for young rebels aged 8 up to 12.

Segway recommends 8 as a minimum age, but I know in our neighborhood there is a kid who’s 6 and he rides one (like a madman) as well. You know your child best so it’s up to you to judge if he/she can or can’t ride this E10.

This Segway E10 with a 2550 mAh / 55.08 Wh rechargeable battery which gives it a range of approximately 6.2 miles (10km) and it can handle a slope of up to 7%.

It’s powerful enough to carry a child with a weight of up to 132Ibs – 60 kilograms and runs for approximately 45 minutes to an hour without interruption.

Please note that the weight of the child has an influence on battery life. Is the battery empty? Then you can charge it with the included battery charger in about 4 hours (the first time you use it it will be close to 8 hours). I know in kids’ hours that feels like a week.

My kids use it to race against other kids in the neighborhood and they can race for about 40 minutes at full speed before the battery dies. Then the nagging starts asking how much longer it will take before it’s charged again so they can go race again.

Young speed devils can reach a maximum speed of 10mph (16 km/h) on the E10.

Segway E10 kick to start

They accelerate by using the Thumb Throttle. The E10 also has a kick-to-start function. The harder they kick the faster they accelerate (hence the “street races” that take place in our neighborhood :-)

There are 3 modes to choose from: Safe mode – Cruise Mode & Turbo mode. Your child can easily switch between modes with the click of a button. Safe mode is limited to 6,2mph which is great if they have never been on an electric scooter before. And turbo mode gives it the full 10mph.

Thanks to the powerful rear brake, they immediately come to a stop.

The Segway E10 comes as standard with a rechargeable battery and a charger.

Foldability

The Segway E10 is designed for portability and weighs in at only 18,7Ibs making it easy to fold and carry, even for children. It’s easy to transport as well.

Motor

The Segway E10 has a 150w motor with a top speed of 10mph (16km/h) which is fast enough to make you nervous the first time your little angel puts the pedal to the metal.

It is a fun and safe scooter and perfect to introduce your kid(s) to the world of electric scooters.

Battery

The battery is powerful enough to have a rider between 44-132 lbs (20kg-60kg)

The charging time is around 4 hours.

The Segway E10 is also equipped with a BMS which stands for Battery Management System. Meaning it protects the battery from overheating, over-current, and short-circuiting and has built-in over-charging protection, so you will never have to worry if you charge the battery overnight.

Safety features

As I mentioned before the Segway E10 features brakes in the rear providing enough stopping power to stop fast and safely. It also has 3 ride modes and a silicone foot pad that offers excellent anti-skid protection in both dry and wet conditions.

Standard Features

The Razor E100 comes standard with 8” air tires making it comfortable for kids to ride on.

Lighting

The Segway E10 has colorful lights under the deck which offer a cool glow. A real show stopper.

Suspension

The Segway E10 has spring dampers in the front as suspension, offering a smooth ride on almost any surface.

Tires

This scooter has tubeless tires made out of synthetic rubber.

Weight and maximum load

The Segway E10 we tested weighs in at around 18.7 lbs (8.5 kg)

The maximum load for this scooter is specified at 44-132 lbs (20kg-60kg)

Conclusion

The Segway E10 is the best choice for an electric scooter for kids aged 8 to 10.
