The electric share scooters from Tier
Tier is an originally German company that has grown in the world of shared mobility since 2018. Tens of thousands of vehicles are now on the road in various countries. The popularity of the company and the demand for shared scooters has grown rapidly since its inception.
Since January 2020, Tier has been the first scooter renting company to be completely carbon neutral.
Since April 2022, Tier has also invested in new electric scooters that are safer and help people that are visually impaired.
How do you use a Tier scooter?
To use Tier, download the free app for Android or Apple. Link a payment method in the app and go through the following steps:
1. Find a Tier scooter near you
Check in the app where the nearest e-scooter is located. In the app, you can also see the scooter’s battery percentage.
2. Add multiple drivers
Tap ‘Group ride’ if you want to unlock multiple vehicles with one app.
3. Unlock with the app
Scan the QR code on the scooter’s handlebars to unlock the vehicle and start your ride.
4. Push off and drive off
Push off with one foot and accelerate with the right thumb. Good to know: the Tier scooters are equipped with a GPS system that keeps track of where you drive. Are you driving in a pedestrian zone? Then your speed will be adjusted automatically.
5. Park the scooter.
Done with the ride? Check in the app whether there are designated parking zones and park the vehicle neatly.
6. End the ride
Press ‘lock e-scooter in the app to end your ride. You will now see an overview of the route taken and the costs incurred.

What does it cost to rent a TIER electric scooter?
The costs for using a Tier scooter vary per country. However, the costs are built up in the same way in every country. You pay a start rate and a rate per minute.
For example, in France, you pay an average of €1 for unlocking and €0.15 per minute. In Switzerland, this is €1 and €0.35 per minute.
Please note: in some countries the rate per minute varies depending on the time you use the shared scooter.
